It is an exciting time to be a part of Lilly Research and Development. Lilly Imaging R&D provides imaging biomarker technical expertise for drug discovery. Would you consider yourself to be a creative teammate with outstanding critical judgement skills? The Imaging Scientist will provide expertise in preclinical Magnetic Resonance imaging and tissue imaging assay development with a focus on Neuroscience imaging and preferred ability to expand to other areas such as Oncology and Immunology imaging projects. Several imaging projects have been identified that are ready to be executed, which will have a high impact on existing Lilly projects or programs. You will make it possible to efficiently move these assays forward through planning and imaging assay development, coordinating experimental details of internal and external partnered projects, conducting experiments, performing data analysis, and presenting data to internal teams and the international scientific community. Some responsibilities in this role are:

  • Conduct preclinical MR imaging work from experimental design through image analysis, data interpretation, written and oral reports via internal or external labs

  • Perform or lead in vivo experiments, as needed, for translational imaging projects

  • Establish and execute an MR imaging research program supporting neuroscience and other drug discovery and biomarker projects through building an interdisciplinary team of internal and external experts

  • Provide strategic and technical input on the development, implementation, and evaluation of imaging biomarkers

  • Assess new technologies in imaging science, identify key scientific developments and implement them in image acquisition/analysis workflow

  • Establish and maintain contacts with global external experts and opinion leaders

  • Publish results of research projects as appropriate

  • Engage in extramural scientific organizations and attend scientific symposia as well as workshops in order to continue educational/professional development

  • Collaborate with clinical imaging teams, implement translatable imaging biomarker assays and ensure seamless translation of projects

Basic Qualificiations:

  • PhD degree in physical or biological sciences or imaging-related field or similar discipline or

  • MS degree in Physical or biological sciences or imaging-related field or similar discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • In vivo animal MRI research experience

  • Experience with imaging, Neuroscience imaging and protocol development

  • Image analysis experience with imaging software (ex: VivoQuant, Analyze, PMod, Matlab)

  • Eagerness and ability to learn and incorporate additional technologies or therapeutic area biology to address imaging needs

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Excellent presentation skills

  • Peer-reviewed publications in molecular imaging
