As we experience an unprecedented wave of converging innovation in biology and machine learning, the Research Information and Digital Solutions (RIDS) organization within Lilly Information and Digital Solutions seeks a talented engineer will work across Lilly Research Labs (LRL) to analyze and lead platform solution development for our single cell capabilities. Specifically, this individual will lead with their scientific and engineering mindset to analyze stakeholder needs across therapeutic areas and deliver well-architected patterns and solutions for single cell data analyses. As a hands-on platform and solutions engineer, He/She/They will partner with internal stakeholders to use state of the art engineering approaches to deliver domain specific platforms and capabilities for single cell analyses. This role will lead technical solution development and initiatives, supporting research scientists with the implementation and application of a variety of tools and technologies. All new efforts leverage AWS or Azure Cloud based platforms for solution delivery.
Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for product and service planning through a broad understanding of genetics, genetic analysis tools, analytics and integration technologies, primarily in the cloud. Strong focus around the emerging area of single cells.
Identify customer requirements through user interviews and lead collaboration with multidisciplinary teams (i.e.Scientist, data engineering, product integration, computational biology, software) to translate customer needs into software requirements and lead the team in building solutions
Lead engineering discussions around single cell platform capabilities
Design the LRL architecture for single cell data capture, analysis and visualization
Work as a platform team lead to develop and deliver the single cell platform using agile development processes including building data and workflow pipelines and creative web applications and visualizations for complex data
Represent the services across Research and IDS (Information Digital Solutions) and drive our robust capabilities both on premise and via cloud providers such as AWS and Azure, by building on a solid understanding of the integration points with applications, platforms, network infrastructure, and other capabilities.
Partner with infrastructure, solution delivery, and Information Management capability teams to architect and deliver current and future solutions.
Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline or at least 10 years of equivalent experience and/or a Masters’ Degree in a technical discipline with at least 6 years of experience.
Experience with Amazon Web Services and/or Azure Cloud technology, containers and data pipelining technologies.
Proficient in R, python and genomics data analyses methods
Experience with analysis of genomic data

Familiarity with multiple design, construction, version control, and testing tools
Ability to accomplish results through others, particularly by establishing relationships, and being an effective team member or business partner.
Experience working with teams across organizational and geographic boundaries and multiple levels in the organization.
