The Sr. Director of Global Finance Data Strategy will drive the cohesive data roadmap across Finance, Procurement and GBS. The goal is to create a seamless experience to acquire, aggregate and assess data required to make business decisions moving from fragmented and manual today to automated and standard in the future. This leader will be responsible to engage process and system owners to migrate current data applied across finance analytics areas to enterprise solutions (EDB, Marketplace, Sharp, Fabric) to enable more automated reporting. In addition, this role will collaborate across other global service functions to ensure that we are using the enterprise data backbone or other technologies pointing analytics functions to common data sources. The role will design, hire and lead a small team of data analysts dedicated to the finance function and be the primary liaison with Tech@Lilly data team focused on finance. This role reports to the AVP/VP Corporate Financial Planning.

Key Objectives

Finance Data Strategy

  • Lead the vision, strategy and implementation of a robust data strategy across global finance to enable rapid access to relevant data and enable next generation generative AI and automation solutions.

  • Partner with Tech@Lilly to develop data structure and storage roadmap across non-sap data sources

  • Partner with finance communications to lead Organizational Change Management of broader digital transformation activities; Embed data access and utilization into onboarding and training activities

  • Build capability to review utilization across platforms to eliminate the lowest value tools

Project Leadership

  • Partner across finance to implement governance structure for data (Non-SAP focus) and transformation projects

  • Owner/Facilitator of data framework required to deliver on transformation and generative AI framework across finance solution delivery teams (GCOA, CFP, US FAST, S2P, Integrated Services)

  • Ensure progress on key data and analytics initiatives (collected in Ideally) while building out broader capabilities

  • Key collaborator with Global Services Data and Analytics teams across other global service functions building and supporting an aligned data and analytics strategy

  • Lead network of Functional Champions across finance including Commercial, Manufacturing, LRL, and Core Finance to understand requirements, implement solutions and share key takeaways

  • Seek out external perspectives on processes and technologies to enhance Lilly’s data access and utilization capabilities

Leadership & Coaching

  • Direct supervision of team members with coaching and mentorship across the team.

  • Mentor and develop talent in problem solving, providing opportunities to develop and demonstrate new skills and capabilities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or IT-related field (Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, etc.).

  • Minimum requirement of 7 years of progressive finance experience driving business outcomes through innovative IT/Data solutions.

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Gather requirements and lead successful implementation of complex processes, systems

  • Technical Proficiency: Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and other modeling tools

  • Excellent communication and prioritization: strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail

  • Collaboration and Leadership: Experience in cross-functional teamwork and collaboration and demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Coding Competence: Basic proficiency in coding languages (Python, R, SAS, SQL, etc.).

  • Adaptability and Influence: Ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity into a meaningful, actionable framework and to lead and inspire change

  • Assertiveness: Willingness to challenge and speak up

Other Information

Position is located at Lilly Corporate Center.

Work outside of core hours will be required during high volume periods.
