Lilly Sr. Specialist – Equipment Coordinator Diagnostic and Experimental Pathology in Indianapolis, Indiana

Purpose of the Job:

The DEP develops and implements preclinical, clinical and translational biomarkers to support Companion Diagnostic development and Discovery Research. Sr. Specialists in the DEP responsibilities include collection and presentation of metric data, instrument and facilities qualifications, oversite of performance maintenance (PM) processes between vendors, performing operational instrument maintenance, troubleshooting instrument issues, and managing the instrument lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities of Job:

Equipment management and maintenance – Sr. Specialists are responsible to perform regular maintenance and quality checks on instruments and equipment, often daily. Sr. Specialists will lead troubleshooting investigations for faulty equipment, schedule preventative maintenance and manage the instrument lifecycle.

Communication and information management – Sr. Specialists will maintain notebooks, lab logbooks, prepare and present data and use computer software. Excellent communication with Lilly scientists and staff outside of the DEP and with contract research organizations (CROs) is required. A high level of teamwork with peer Sr. Specialists also required.

Technical writing skills – Sr. Specialists may assist in the development of maintenance protocols, reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other laboratory process documentation.

Applications of regulatory requirements – Sr. Specialists are responsible for understanding and applying regulations as they relate to analytical method development, validation, and execution. All laboratory procedures must be conducted and documented according to appropriate regulations. Specialists are expected to exhibit behavior that supports and promotes GRP/GCP and adheres to all appropriate Lilly and regulatory procedures and guidelines.

Technical process application and improvement – Sr. Specialists develop and utilize expertise and knowledge of instrument operation and theory.

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Additional Skills/Preferences

Project Management – Specialists should manage multiple projects and meet timelines established by customers.

Experience with basic computer software applications including MS Word and Excel. General laboratory skills. Attentive to details.
