Organization Overview:

Lilly has embarked on a very broad Digital Transformation journey in the Manufacturing & Supply Chain space with a goal to modernize and digitize operations in Planning, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Storage and Distribution of our products. The “Next Generation Warehousing Solutions” program is a critical cog in our transformation journey, with a mission to unify and modernize our Warehousing Business Processes and Operations across our manufacturing and distribution footprint, optimize material handling operations through automation and deliver a modern scalable platform that will serve as a foundation for continuous innovation in this space.

Leveraging SAP EWM as our Next Generation Global Warehouse Management & Warehouse Execution system along with other SAP products in the SAP Digital Supply Chain portfolio, MES Solutions (PMX) from Rockwell Automation and various warehouse automation and Industry 4.0 technologies such as ASRS, AGVs, Robotic Cells, Digital Twins etc. that enable automated material movement, handling and storage, the NextGen Warehouse Program will deliver solutions that drive Lilly’s Dock-to-Dock automated material handling and movement strategy and accelerate the digital maturity of our manufacturing footprint from Connected Plants to Predictive Plants and Adaptive Plants.


The Global Supply Chain Business Integrator will play a key role in enabling this transformation at our Mfg. and Distribution sites worldwide. This role sits within the Manufacturing and Quality IDS Organization supporting the Global Supply functions of Plan, Make, Buy, Store, Distribute and Quality with strong links to other SAP teams supporting Valuation & Control (Financial) and other groups within M&Q IDS who deliver and support non-SAP technologies used at manufacturing sites.

This primary focus of this role will be providing integration between the “business” which comprises of Global Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Distribution Process Owners and Logistics Process Owners at various manufacturing and distribution sites and IT, influencing the processes, solutions, tools, and operating models within the relevant area.

Throughout your time in this role, the BI will continue to develop technical expertise in the SAP EWM solution and the application of SAP EWM to support Lilly’s manufacturing sites logistic flows from in-bound to out-bound, material supply to production and packaging operations, and the integration of SAP EWM with Manufacturing Execution Systems, Quality Systems, and the various automation & robotics Systems. This will also allow to gain a broad understanding of the various SAP products in the Digital Supply Chain portfolio and the other non-SAP solutions that integrate to drive the end-to-end supply chain operations at Lilly.

Some regional and international travel will be required to meet with business partners and develop key working relationships as part of a global function.

Key Objectives / Deliverables :

  • Become an expert in the SAP EWM technology and the business processes they support, both from a configuration perspective and identifying where customizations can be used to enhance core functionality.

  • Develop strong knowledge on the integration of SAP EWM with Manufacturing Execution Solutions and automation solutions like ASRS, AGVs, Robotic Cells etc.

  • Be forward thinking with respect to technical evolutions within the SCM systems landscape which help to drive productivity and improve the user experience or functionality of the offering

  • Be an advocate for SCM at global, regional, and local level to communicate standards, enhance awareness of the various solutions and offerings and accelerate adoption of the various IT solutions being deployed.

  • Lead, manage and participate in projects, understanding business impact, quantifying resources, and evaluating/recommending technical options.

  • Interact and collaborate with global, regional, and local Business Partners (Process Owners, Power Users, Business Process Knowledge Centers and Service/Release Managers) as appropriate, to better understand the business and its priorities, drive the development of business cases and represent their requirements within SCM

  • Promote process improvement and innovation to drive business process optimization

  • Influence partner organizations in prioritization and problem management of solution issues, including root cause analysis

  • Leverage ESP resources across a broad spectrum of service offerings to augment our solution delivery capabilities

  • Adhere to corporate computer systems validation policies and procedures

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Experience implementing and maintaining SAP hence demonstrating relevant understanding of SAP implementation and design; particularly in the Manufacturing Operations space.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Experience working in a regulated industry (i.e. GMP)

  • Strong understanding of quality processes in IT applying to manufacturing and distribution.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form (in English), with proven success at delivering key messages to both management and peers across multiple business functions

  • Strong understanding and application of corporate policies and procedures

  • Working with multiple IT organizations.

  • Project leadership experience.

  • Effective analytical, problem solving and investigative skills

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and leadership

  • Good technical ability

  • Ability to lead small teams, influence others and manage conflict

  • Excellent initiative and self-management skills

  • Ability to resolve issues across geographical and cultural boundaries

  • Development, configuration, or support experience of SAP supply chain modules

Additional Information:

  • Located in Indianapolis, Indiana, although remote or OUS-based candidates will be considered

  • Full time day shift position

  • As this position serves a global organization, occasional off hours and weekend work is expected

  • Some (less than 10%) domestic and/or international travel may be required
