The EM Team Leader ensures safe, compliant execution of the environmental monitoring program for the Indianapolis Parenteral Manufacturing production areas (a 24/7 operation). The Team Leader is responsible for the oversight of the daily sampling workload, customer service, process monitoring and improvement, issue resolution/investigation, and training and development of team members.

Key Objectives / Deliverables:

  • Safety – Ensures that all team members are knowledgeable and compliant regarding safety procedures, policies, permits and practices. Initiates and leads incident investigations, near miss reviews and notifications. Ensures housekeeping requirements are executed and maintained.

  • Quality – Accountable for the team meeting the quality standards as defined by cGMPs, Global Quality Standards, local procedures and production tickets (as applicable). Understands deviation and change management processes.

  • Manage Team Effectively – Responsible for managing daily operations across shifts including attendance, overtime, training, performance coaching, team development and issue resolution/escalation.

  • Maintain Process Execution – Responsible for meeting the daily, weekly and monthly sample schedule, uninterrupted support for Operations and keeping Manager informed of issues. Ensures regular presence - both personal and the corresponding shift Senior Specialist – on the production floor. Coordinates with external teams and functions as required on projects critical to success.

  • Operational Excellence – Drives and/or supports continuous improvement through data collection, evaluation and effective implementation of solutions. Will learn and leverage Lilly CCI (Lean), OSSCE and CAPA programs to identify, implement and sustain improvements.

  • Other - capable of functioning as back up to Manager when necessary

Basic Qualificiations:

Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, or General Biology.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with both written and verbal multi-level in the organization

  • Demonstrated ability to provide coaching and feedback

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, set objectives and meet targets

  • Demonstrated ability to work without close supervision

  • Demonstrated ability to understand data and adjust actions (flexibility)

  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer systems and multiple software applications including Microsoft Office products

  • Demonstrated excellence in teamwork and interpersonal skills

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals.

  • Previous experience leading personnel

  • Relevant experience in GMP facility

  • Experience in parenteral manufacturing operations

  • Degree in science related field

Additional Information:

  • Position supports a 24/7 operation and is expected to be flexible in maintaining availability for support in decision making and issue resolution as necessary to support operations of the facility.

  • Applicant will work in various areas within the Parenteral Plant. Some allergens are present in the Parenteral Plant. Mobility requirements and exposure to allergens should be considered when applying for this position.

  • Position is night shift, minimal travel required.
