The role of the Enterprise DevOps, Automation & Tools team is to enable our functional/business facing IT teams to deploy consistent solutions in an autonomous and self-service manor, whilst ensuring the highest level of security and quality. The team will be driven by the enterprise business needs, supporting the required people, processes and culture transformations. This includes continuous improvement and innovation-driven processes to accelerate application development across IT and enabling business transformation.

Role Description:

The Tech Lead - Enterprise DevOps Automation is a global role responsible for championing modern DevSecOps & software development practices across Lilly's IDS Organization. The primary focus is to lead the shift in Lilly adopting a cutting-edge approach to secure software development & DevSecOps. This will be a cross functional role, partnering with Information Security, Quality and other functional IDS areas (MD, Business Unit IT, Digital Health, etc.) to drive change.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive modern IT solutions ranging from developing Microservices and leveraging API’s, automating deployments using CI/CD tools such as Github Actions or Jenkins, as well as building on top of modern cloud offerings including AWS & Azure.

  • Lead the delivery and development of enhancements and innovations to simplify and improve the user experience for customers that use the enterprise DevSecOps tools and applications.

  • Influence application teams to adopt DevSecOps Practices that will speed development and delivery of solutions.

  • Drive the adoption of foundational & repeatable software development & DevSecOps practices, as well as the de-centralization of DevSecOps across the enterprise.

  • Build inclusive relationships with our business partners across the enterprise to stress the importance of DevOps best practices.

  • Develop, Maintain & Deliver technical product roadmaps that will drive DevSecOps at Lilly.

  • Lead technical sessions with development teams to evaluate their existing software and DevSecOps practices (or possibly lack thereof).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • 5+ years’ programming experience (Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, etc).

  • 3+ years’ working within a DevOps team.

  • 5+ years working with Git, specifically working in a team which adopts modern GitHub practices (Git Flow, Actions, etc).

  • 5+ years working in a software development team following modern software development practices (Testing, Code Reviews, Code Coherence, use of a multitude of frameworks/libs ).

  • 3+ years’ experience in product management, specifically managing tools & platforms and delivering on roadmap items.

  • 3+ years’ experience working with Cloud Solutions on AWS or Azure that consume native services or custom built services.

Additional skills/preferences:

  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer/AWS Certified Developer.

  • Azure Developer Associate Certified/Designing and Implementing Microsoft DevOps Solutions Certified.

  • Experience and knowledge using containerization solutions.

  • Proven experience of articulating technical solutions to non-technical personnel.

  • Proven experience building relationships and networking with people outside of direct organization.

  • Prior experience working in a regulated team.
