Apprenticeship: Mechanical Automation & Maintenance Fitting (QQI Level 6)

Key Responsibilities

The apprentice will be working with the Site Maintenance Team to conduct activities which support the repair, replacement, installation & Maintenance on new & existing equipment in a highly regulated GMP environment to support Production activities at the Eli Lilly Kinsale site.

These activities may involve the following but are not limited to:

  • Training on Eli Lilly Quality, Environmental & H&S requirements

  • Installation of plant & machinery

  • Completing Maintenance & repairs on equipment

  • Working as part of Maintenance team to help perform a variety of tasks independently and as part of the team

  • Work with drilling, milling machines and welding plants

  • Working with specialized tools such as lathes and grinders

  • Install, service, maintain, and rectify faults of machine tools, power and production equipment

  • Dismantle, repair or make and fit new parts when performing plant maintenance

  • Monitor equipment conditions using modern maintenance techniques

  • Write reports of completed repairs

  • Understanding technical drawings and diagrams

Key Attributes

Applicants must have achieved at least Grade O5 in five Leaving Certificate subjects, including Mathematics and preferably one Technical subject.


These are entry level, on-the-job & classroom training based programmes and are therefore ideally aimed towards recent school-leavers.

The interview process will take place throughout the month of July, 2022. Therefore, candidates will need to be available in July, 2022 to be considered .
