Job Overview:

This position is responsible for Eli Lilly Japan’s tax/treasury/transparency and other financial operating matters working with individuals across the Financial Operations (FO) organization. The position requires basic understanding of Japanese tax and accounting (local and US basis) to ensure compliance with the relevant requirements. It also requires good communication skills in both Japanese and English because he/she will be working closely with local management, corporate headquarters, and external partners.

Job Responsibilities:

  • In charge of Tax, Treasury, Transparency and other financial operating matters working with FO team members

  • Monitoring and support of taxation requirements including handling tax audit/examination

  • Tax planning and strategy including transfer pricing matters

  • Compliance with relevant laws and regulations for integrity of financial data

  • Compliance with financial policies and procedures

  • Maintenance of internal controls and compliance to SOx in the relevant areas

  • Coordination with internal/external auditors, corporate headquarters, Shared Service Center and external partners

  • Involvement in cross-functional projects, contribution to the team

As part of skill development and job rotation, he/she may become in charge of one of or combination of other financial processes (Order to Cash, Purchase to Pay, Treasury, General Accounting, Fixed asset, Payroll etc.) in the future.

Required Experience:

  • Accounting degree or equivalent

  • 3-10 years experience in financial operation jobs, such as the management of financial systems, budgets, journal entries and financial reporting, financial data analysis, auditing, and taxation (or 3-10 years experience at a major accounting Firm)

  • Experience in cross-functional work/project

Essential Skills:

  • Accounting and Japanese tax knowledge

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Good written and verbal presentation/communication skills, appreciation of diversity

  • Japanese (Native or equivalent) and English (Business level, TOEIC L&R 730+)

  • High trustworthiness, discretion and sense of ethics

  • Project management skills and multi-tasking skills

  • Initiative, proactive mindset

  • Willingness to challenge the status quo, willingness to learn

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Desirable experience / license :

  • CPA/Japanese Tax accountant license is a plus

  • International experience preferred (such as communication with overseas entities)

  • SAP experience is a plus

スキルアップとジョブローテーションの一環として、将来的には他の財務プロセス(Order to Cash、Purchase to Pay、Treasury、General Accounting、Fixed asset、Payrollなど)のいずれか、またはそれらを組み合わせて担当する可能性があります。


  • 会計学の学位またはそれと同等レベルの知識

  • 財務システム、予算、経理、財務報告書の管理、財務データ分析、監査、税務などの経験3-10年(または大手会計事務所での経験3-10年 )

  • クロスファンクショナルワーク/プロジェクトの経験


  • 簿記2級程度以上の会計知識と基本的な日本の税務知識

  • 分析力と問題解決力

  • 書面および口頭でのプレゼンテーション/コミュニケーション能力が高く、多様性を理解していること

  • 日本語(ネイティブまたは同等レベル)、英語(ビジネスレベル、TOEIC L&R 730以上

  • 高い信頼性と思慮深さ、倫理観の高さ

  • プロジェクトマネジメントスキルとマルチタスクスキル

  • 主体性、積極性

  • 現状に挑戦する意欲、学ぶ意欲

  • マイクロソフトエクセルに習熟していること


  • 公認会計士(日本もしくはUS)または税理士資格があれば尚可

  • 国際的な経験があれば尚可(海外とのコミュニケーションなど)

  • SAPの経験があれば尚良し
