The Finance organization at Eli Lilly Japan strives to be an essential and trusted business partner, influencing decisions, providing insight, and driving productivity to achieve business results.
This role is the primary contact and financial lead for one of our Commercial Business Units within Japan. Activities include financial control, budgeting, and analysis. The position requires a strong knowledge of finance and accounting, leadership skills, and excellent communication skills in both Japanese and English as the successful candidate will be working closely with senior management, global / cross-functional teams, and external partners.
Develop a deep understanding of our industry, business, and brands to become a valued and trusted partner to the Management Team
Ensure appropriate monthly accounting and reporting:
Prepare and present monthly results, explain variance drivers and analyze data to support decisions
Ensure the business is compliant to financial policies and procedures, maintaining internal controls and compliance to SOx
Take a lead role during Business Plan (near-term budgeting process) and Strategic Plan (long-term view) processes
Participate in local business development deals as a transaction team member, supporting the financial analysis and valuation processes
Lead ad-hoc projects and business case analyses
Coordinate between local business partners, local senior management, and global teams across functions and geographies
3+ years of experience in finance field in a multinational company or consulting/audit firm with experience in cross-functional work/project.
Candidate must be fluent in Japanese and business communications in English
Presentation/communication skills, ability to effectively communicate and influence across cultures
Detail orientation, but with ability to see bigger picture
Innovative mindset - willingness to challenge the status quo, seek continuous improvement
Project management skills
Ability to work under stress and independently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in English (TOEIC 750+) and Japanese, ability to deal across functions/cultures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Desirable Skills / License (not required)
MBA or equivalent
Accounting experience and/or certification (CPA, etc.)
