Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$58,000 - $100,320

Position Summary:

This Postdoctoral Scientist position offers the opportunity to be part of Lilly Oncology’s Exploratory Research team focused on building deep insights into the structures and mechanisms of clinically important protein complexes. The scientist will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment creating and developing experimental and analytical methods to characterize novel protein complexes in a cellular context.

Responsibilities:

  • Working within a scientific team, conceptualize and execute new methodologies to obtain Cryo-EM/ET structures of novel protein complexes

  • Prepare biological samples for cryo-electron tomography using focused ion beam milling

  • Prepare biological samples for single particle cryo-electron microscopy

  • Collect and analyze Cryo-EM/ET images

  • Document experimental work in an electronic laboratory notebook

  • Present their work and participate in team meetings.

  • Work collaboratively in a laboratory environment including maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation and equipment

Basic Requirements :

  • PhD in structural biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry, or related field with expertise in focused ion beam milling sample preparation of cells for cryo-electron tomography

Additional Preferences:

  • Experience in Cryo-EM single particle sample preparation, Cryo-ET data collection, image processing and structural analysis

  • Strong interest in creating and advancing new technologies to characterize cellular complexes at near-atomic resolution to enable discovery of novel therapeutics in a team environment

  • Expertise in protein purification, protein characterization, and Cryo-CLEM methodology

  • Experience maintaining and trouble-shooting laboratory equipment

  • Familiarity with or strong desire to learn cellular characterization methods

  • Self-motivation and continual learner mindset

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and interact well with colleagues, vendors, and staff at all levels.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, documentation and multi-tasking skills
