Post Doctoral Scientist - Translational Biomarkers and Bioanalytics, Prevail Therapeutics

Are you looking to make a significant difference tackling neurodegenerative diseases, a grave epidemic and impending public health issue. If so, this might be a right role for you where you will be champion biomarker-enabled drug research, ranging from early research to the translation to patients. You will be joining the Translational Biomarkers and Bioanalytics (TBB) team at Prevail Therapeutics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly. Eli Lilly and Company is committed to developing innovative, game-changing therapies for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and Frontotemporal dementia.

We are seeking an ambitious post-doctoral scientist with strong research and communication skills to contribute to high visibility research projects. Your work will contribute to the development of disease state- and disease progression-biomarkers by utilizing quantitative assays based on cutting-edge technology for preclinical and clinical programs.

In this role, you will:

  • Spearheading the identification and development of cutting-edge disease-validated biomarkers to aid diagnosis and treatment of our leading clinical and pipeline programs including Frontotemporal dementia and Parkinson’s Disease.

  • Be part of a larger effort to identify disease state- and disease progression-biomarkers and explore the development and validation of novel peptide assays by de-novo sequencing and multi-omics approaches.

  • Working in a highly collaborative environment, the candidate is expected to be an active contributor to the cross-functional teams.

  • Identify areas of key need across clinical development and champion creative solutions to address those needs. Maintain external awareness and learning to benefit the organization.

  • Present findings at conferences and publish in high quality peer-reviewed journals.

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD in Neuroscience, Translational Medicine, Molecular Biology, or a related field.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Hands-on experience in mass spectrometry-based targeted and unbiased proteomics is preferred

  • Experience with multiplex platforms such as Olink, Mesoscale Discovery, and BioRad/Luminex is preferred

  • Experience with bioinformatics tools, multi-omics data integration, including network analysis is preferred

  • Experience with a scripting language (R, Python, etc.) is preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate data and to think creatively about experimental design

  • Experience with working in an interdisciplinary team of scientists in a highly collaborative environment is valuable

  • Present and communicate study results to the project teams

  • Track record of scientific accomplishments, as indicated by peer-reviewed publications and presentations/ field of interest / qualifications if applicable

  • Driven, ambitious and motivated to achieve challenging goals to contribute to drug discovery for patient populations with high unmet need

  • Excited about seeking clinical validation for new cutting edge biomarkers

  • Inspired to discover new biomarkers to drive understanding of neurological disorders

  • Self-directed and highly motivated individual who wants to learn new techniques while continually pursuing research and publication goals.

  • Excellent communicator (oral and written) with presentation experience, along with a strong publication record.

  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting

  • Experience with high resolution mass spectrometry instruments is a plus

  • Experience/knowledge of neurodegenerative diseases is a plus

  • Excellent people skills with the ability to efficiently interface with multiple groups including clinical operations and data sciences

Additional Information:

  • This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend to 3 years and for maximum of up to 4 years. You will have opportunities to apply for full time positions after your duration is complete.
