Prevail Therapeutics is a wholly owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly and company. We are focused on developing novel gene therapies for Parkinson’s disease and other genetically-defined neurodegenerative diseases. Prevail is based in the Alexandria Center for Life Science in NYC.

As a Scientist in the Functional Genomics team, you will play an important role in advancing Prevail’s scientific mission in target discovery, AAV and gene editing technology development and genome engineering. You will implement high throughput functional genomics screens and assays to characterize our technology platforms and investigational therapies. You will have a transversal role and interact closely with scientists in our discovery, bioanalytical and quantitative sciences teams.

You will have exposure to all activities at Prevail, and and you will be influential in championing genomic technologies across R&D. Our employees are expected to function with a high degree of independence, while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team that is dedicated to the development of new therapies for neurodegenerative diseases.

The appointment is expected to be at the Scientist level. The specific level will be determined based on experience and expertise you bring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop libraries and functional genomics screens to investigate regulatable gene expression, transcriptional and translational control in AAV gene delivery

  • Design genomics screens and barcoding strategies in pooled and arrayed formats for testing multiplexed cargos and delivery vehicles

  • Implement NGS assays for addressing critical issues in AAV gene therapy – viral integration, cell tropism, durability, stability etc..

  • Provide leadership in applying high throughput technologies to critical and challenging areas of scientific discovery

  • Analyze screening data, working closely with quantitative science team and develop novel Machine Learning models

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in molecular biology, bioengineering or related field, 2-3+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience preferred.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Expertise in building library screens, gene editing and other gene modulation technologies

  • Track record of significant successful contribution to research projects leading to high impact publications/inventions

  • Expertise Molecular and cellular biology protocols such as cloning and library construction

  • Some experience with data analysis of screening data is a plus

Additional Information:

  • Position Location: New York City, Prevail Therapeutics a wholly owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly

  • Lilly currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from between $121,000 to $165,000 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees, including eligibility to participate in a company-sponsored 401(k); pension; vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities).Of course, the compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.
