Description:
The position of Purchasing Manager - Indirect Materials (MRO) will manage the processes, systems, and suppliers that provide indirect materials and services for internal RTP Lilly operations.
The scope of this role includes GMP and non-GMP indirect materials and services that support multiple areas within the Lilly RTP site.
Responsibilities:
Create, develop, implement a robust process to manage indirect materials used at the Lilly RTP site
Develop and implement strategies to manage indirect material delivery, inventory storage, and disbursement, in ‘supermarkets’ and satellite storerooms throughout the Lilly RTP site
Develop standards and resource planning to ensure accurate, in-stock inventory and timely issue resolution of indirect materials including inventory controls and physical inventory counts
Identify and manage the appropriate system (Lilly or external) to be used to manage indirect/MRO materials
Lead and implement Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) initiatives where possible to support multiple areas at the Lilly RTP site (Fisher Scientific, etc.)
Working with internal colleagues from multiple areas at the Lilly RTP site, identify and source indirect materials as well as the appropriate stocking and reorder points required to meet Lilly RTP’s business needs
Where necessary, solicit, source and evaluate new suppliers to meet Lilly RTP’s business needs
Follow and execute Lilly onboarding processes and Change Controls required for new suppliers
Relay material changes to supplier quality for evaluation and partner to onboard new material, as required
Manage and build strong relationships with suppliers of indirect materials used at the Lilly RTP site
Manage and monitor supplier performance for on time delivery, quality, accuracy and responsiveness
Manage and oversee supplier, material and purchasing master data within systems that manage indirect materials
Resolve receiving and invoicing issues with suppliers
Create, place, monitor and manage purchase orders for indirect materials used at the Lilly RTP site
Project participation and leadership for special projects, process improvements, launches, etc.
Support the start-up of the RTP site, partnering with Operations, Quality, Planning, Procurement, and Warehouse to purchase indirect materials required for start-up activities and routine operations
Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) and processes related to indirect materials
Support various global initiatives where necessary, including Lilly contracting standards, ethics and policies
Recruit, hire, train and manage direct reports as Lilly RTP site grows and indirect material workload grows
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
Minimum of 5 years work experience
Experience managing indirect/MRO materials and purchasing
Experience in manufacturing, procurement, or supply chain functions

Ability to work through ambiguity and drive solutions in a startup environment
Ability to develop solutions where processes and procedures do not currently exist
Strong organizational, technical and analytical skills
Ability to track details of multiple projects
Experience in a GMP/pharmaceutical environment
Experience supervising and managing direct reports
Basic SAP experience
Ability to work independently with little day-to-day direction
Capability to prioritize and multi-task effectively
Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and accountable for supporting all safety objectives
Strong communication and collaboration skills working inclusively with other functions and teams
