Our team focuses on discovering innovative biotherapeutic medicines saving lives and improving patients’ quality of life, by applying groundbreaking protein discovery, engineering, and characterization technologies; thus, making a meaningful difference through contributions to the development of novel biotherapeutics for unmet medical needs!

The Biologics Automation and High-throughput Technologies Group at the Lilly Biotechnology Center is searching for an associate level scientist with experience in Molecular Biology. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the execution of high throughput molecular biology procedures and protein assays to support ongoing protein therapeutic discovery projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement high throughput molecular biology protocols and recombinant protein binding assays to support protein and peptide biotherapeutic discovery projects.

  • Complete custom cloning projects using powerful molecular biology cloning techniques.

  • Work collaboratively with project teams on-site to achieve critical research objectives and timelines.

  • Interact productively with the antibody discovery, protein engineering and purification groups in San Diego and Indianapolis.

Basic Qualifications:

B.S. in Biological sciences (Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Immunology, Biochemistry, or similar field) with relevant laboratory experience or training

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Experience with RNA work, PCR-based techniques, restriction enzyme and recombination-based cloning, Sanger sequencing sample preparation and analysis, small-scale plasmid DNA extractions, capillary electrophoresis, Next Generation Sequencing sample preparation protocols.

  • Knowledge in recombinant protein binding and quantification assays including ELISA’s, and AlphaLISA’s, operation of Octet and HPLC instruments

  • Experience in the operation and scripting of high throughput liquid handlers (BioMeks, Tecan, or Hamilton).

  • Familiarity with the use of Benchling Notebooks, Molecular Biology tools and clone tracking capabilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, work planning, data analysis and record keeping skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting are essential.
