Lilly Post-Doctoral Research Scientist - BioTechnology Discovery Research - FDE in San Diego, California

At Lilly, we unite caring with discovery to make life better for people around the world. We are a global healthcare leader headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our 35,000 employees around the world work to discover and bring life-changing medicines to those who need them, improve the understanding and management of disease, and give back to our communities through philanthropy and volunteerism. We give our best effort to our work, and we put people first. We’re looking for people who are determined to make life better for people around the world.

About Eli Lilly’s Postdoctoral Scientist Program:

When it comes to research and development, our goal is to discover and deliver innovative medicines that make life better for people around the world. It’s challenging, expensive and often filled with failure. But even when we fail, we advance medical science and understanding by learning more about diseases, biology and chemistry – ultimately bringing new solutions one step closer to reality.

Over the course of our history, we have shed light on some of the toughest health care problems known to man – diabetes, heart disease, infectious diseases, neuroscience disorders, cancer and more. We could not pursue this without our research and development team.

Postdoctoral scientists help us continue this pursuit. During your experience you will get:

  • Top industry research experience

  • Mentoring by some of Lilly’s top scientists

  • Laboratory and classroom training and education to further your development

  • Collaboration and networking across dozens of postdoctoral scientists and other researchers

Are you looking to make a significant difference by contributing to the discovery of new drugs? If you are a self-directed and highly motivated individual who can quickly identify key strategies and resources to reach research goals, this is an ideal opportunity. This is a great chance to continue your research aspirations in an industry setting. Join our team today and work for a company dedicated to its employees, patients and communities!

Our Biotechnology Discovery Research team is looking for an ambitious postdoctoral scientist with strong research and communication skills to contribute to high visibility research projects. If you are a scientist with expertise in molecular biology, protein expression and tissue culture, apply today! This work will contribute to the development of new capabilities to broadly expand the target space for antibody discovery.

Responsibilities could include:

  • Develop innovative ways to enable therapeutic antibody discovery against historically challenging target types. In particular, the focus of research will be to design and develop methods to enable high-level expression of multi-span membrane proteins.

  • Develop and evaluate inducible, membraned-anchored receptor expression systems for high levels of expression and stability.

  • Optimize and test membrane scaffold display systems.

  • Biochemical and biophysical characterization of receptor display for ligand interaction and functional activity.

  • Feasibility testing of receptor expression systems in multiple antibody discovery platforms.

  • Ability to work in a creative, fast-paced and productive team environment.

  • Partner with discovery scientists to understand multispan platform criteria for improving discovery outcomes.

Basic Qualifications

PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related life science field

Additional Skills/Preferences:
