We are looking for a hardworking applicant experienced in protein/antibody engineering research. This role is on our Discovery & Engineering Team responsible for the development of therapeutic antibodies against diverse therapeutic targets. The focus will be on antibody engineering technologies, in combination with structural biology, to develop engineering concepts to introduce or improve pH dependent binding properties and strategies to discover pH dependent antibodies de novo. A main objective will be building and testing library-based approaches, screening methods and structural modeling to enable semi-rational or rational mutagenesis. Does this sound intriguing? Area of Research
Probing the Mechanism of Action and binding limitations of a known pH-dependent Ab/Ag System. Study, in structural detail, the fundamental MoA of an established pH-sensitive antibody switch system to ultimately drive protocols and improve p(TS) for generating such systems at Lilly.
Development and testing of strategies to discover de novo and/or engineer antibodies with introduced or improved pH dependent binding properties (including screening, semi-random mutagenesis/library design).
Implementation of structural modeling and in silico design strategies to enable rational mutagenesis. If possible, development of a platform solution to discovery of pH dependent antibodies.
Ph.D. degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or related field, preferably with emphasis on protein/antibody engineering
Additional Skills and Preferences:
Knowledge and hands-on experience in protein/antibody library design, construction, screening and protein chemistry
Good understanding of antibody structure and function
Experience with phage display and/or other molecular evolution technologies a plus
Experience in structural modeling and design
Ability to write scientific reports and publications
Ability to work in a creative, fast-paced and productive team environment
Great teammate with strong interpersonal skills
Good time management and organizational skills
This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years and possibility of extending to maximum of up to 4 years.
