Our Global Structural Biology group at the Lilly Biotechnology Center (LBC) in San Diego is looking to add to our diverse and dynamic team of scientists in the area of Cryo-Electron Microscopy. We are a part of Lilly’s Discovery Chemistry and Research & Technologies Division and responsible for gene-to-structure workflows supporting Lilly’s drug discovery pipeline. Responsibilities for the position
Provide cryo-electron microscopy support for a broad range of targets across therapeutic areas, and help drive the expression, purification and cryo-EM structure determination of novel drug targets, particularly membrane proteins
Partner closely with other structural biologists, biophysicists, protein biochemists and medicinal chemists to develop integrated approaches and address project specific needs and challenges
Collaborate on multidisciplinary teams, presenting scientific data in support of drug discovery projects
Support maintenance and basic troubleshooting of in-house microscopy equipment
Establish computational workflows for the processing of EM data and refinement of biomolecular structures
Provide training to Structural Biology colleagues on EM grid preparation, data collection and analysis
PhD in Structural Biology, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or other relevant field with at least 2 years (post degree completion; can include postdoc) relevant experience
A strong publication record is highly preferred
Compensation commensurate with experience.
Proven practical research experience in structure solution of membrane proteins by cryo-Electron Microscopy and membrane protein biochemistry
Experienced in Single Particle Analysis and familiarity with the major packages including RELION, cisTEM, and cryoSPARC
Flexibility to work in an environment with rapidly changing priorities and time frames, with strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and problem-solving skills
Experience in the biotech or pharma sector
Experience in X-ray crystallography, other biophysical methods (E.g., MS, SPR, MST, X-ray, EM, etc.) is a plus
