Job Summary

Research IDS unites science with technology to accelerate the LRL (Lilly Research Laboratories) pipeline and deliver therapeutic innovations. Our work helps researchers follow the science to understand the disease as well as identify potential therapies. As a member of the Research IDS organization, you will work on efforts to streamline scientific experimentation, organize and manage Data, Information, and Analytics to accelerate drug discovery.  You will have the opportunity to work in highly technical and fast paced teams in a scientifically challenging area responsible for delivery or platforms to support an ever-changing research environment.  

Responsibility

  • Lead a highly technical team of software engineers, business analysts, project managers, etc, to develop and support a wide array of capabilities, from notebooks to LIMS to data lakes to lab automation, all focused on advancing the LRL pipeline of large molecule and RNA-based therapies

  • Own the Business Relationships between IDS and both BioTDR (BioTherapeutics Discovery Research) and the Institute for Genetic Medicines

  • Own the Business Plan for tech and analytics investments in support of BioTDR and GenMed

  • Works closely with the Research IDS and LRL/MIH leadership to create and manage a unified portfolio of projects, capabilities, solutions and services to meet needs of scientists in and around LRL

  • Define the technology and data strategy, muster the resources, and execute the projects to deliver innovative capabilities to accelerate antibody- and RNA-based drug discovery

  • Accountable for excellence in software development processes, technology choices, talent development (including technology, leadership, and domain expertise), and software robustness, resilience, value, and quality.

  • Partner with AADS (Advanced Analytics and Data Sciences),GIS (Global Infrastructure Services), IS, Quality, Procurement, and other partner organizations to ensure high Shared Consciousness in our RIDS (Research Information and Digital Solutions) technology roadmaps

Basic Qualifications

  • College degree or global equivalent in scientific, business or IT-related field. A graduate degree in life sciences is highly preferred

  • 10+ years leadership experience working with business partners to deliver business outcomes through technology and analytics solutions and services

Additional Skills

  • Demonstrated delivery of sustainable capabilities and services within the budget, timeline, and scope constraints.

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills

  • Good Financial and Budget management

  • Good experience in executing projects and delivering against aggressive scope and timelines

  • Demonstrated success in developing leaders of people and leaders in technology
