The Contract Scientist, Biophysical Chemistry will play a pivotal role in performing biophysical analysis of proteins and protein/protein interactions within the Protein Science & Engineering - Biophysical Chemistry group. The scientist in this role will frequently interact with the Biophysical Chemistry and Bioconjugation team leaders and other scientists in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

The role will be responsible for maintaining lab instrumentation, ordering and preparing reagents, and performing screening and characterization of antibodies and antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) candidate molecules using various biophysical platforms.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Using surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and Biolayer Interferometry (BLI) to characterize the kinetics and affinity of antibody/antigen interactions

  • Using SPR and/or BLI for epitope binning and receptor/ligand blocking studies

  • Characterizing protein stability, purity and quality using a variety of techniques, such as dynamic light scattering (DLS), static light scattering (SLS), capillary isoelectric focusing (cIEF), size exclusion chromatography (SEC), ion exchange chromatography (IEX), CE-SDS, and SDS-PAGE.

  • Clearly documenting experiments and results in electronic lab notebook entries

Required Qualifications and Preferred Background:

  • A BS or MS with 0-3+ years relevant work experience. Level commensurate with education and experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and interact well with colleagues, vendors, contractors, scientific advisors, and staff at all levels.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented with excellent analytical, documentation, and multi-tasking skills.

  • Previous experience with therapeutic antibodies, antibody conjugates, bi and multi-specific molecules, and other modalities is a plus
